GeekPics are pictures to appreciate the inner geekness. A geek usually means a bit of an eccentric person, who’s interested in peculiar and non-mainstream subjects… I believe inner geekness should be embraced rather than be embarrassed of.

GeekPic at the Lightning Ridge opal mine underground museum. Opal fever is real. It will take hold of you if you venture into the town of Lightning Ridge, where the cracks in the earth are filled with the most precious stone of them all. This is where the elusive black opal is found. And it’s difficult not to get enchanted by its beauty.
GeekPic at the intimidating steaming heaps of the Fimmvörðuháls fissure lava flow in Iceland. I had to brave howling winds in order to even stay upright, while holding a relic lava rock that was coughed up by the mighty Eyjafjallajökull himself. The nearby Magni and Móði craters were still steaming at their edges.
Being a geek (or a nerd) usually refers to a slightly eccentric and unfashionable person. Someone with great interest, passion & enthusiasm for peculiar, non-mainstream subjects. I believe inner geekness should be embraced rather than be embarrassed of. I’m a volcano geek and I’m not ashamed to admit it. 🙂
